Marco Polo Sheep Hunting

Marco Polo sheep hunting is one of the greatest experiences you get in your lifetime.

Some of our successful Marco Polo Sheep hunts

If you’re looking for a real adventure, this is it. High altitude, tough terrain, and long-range shooting make this a true hunt of a lifetime.

Hunts take place in the rugged Tian Shan mountain range, where elevations commonly range from 3,500 to over 4,500 meters (11,500–14,700 feet).

Altitude can make even experienced hunters feel the effects of fatigue much sooner than they would at sea level. While the pace is adapted to each hunter, a reasonable level of physical fitness will greatly improve both comfort and success during the hunt. We reccommend that you take Diamox to help you with adapting to altitude.

Hunters should expect steep slopes, loose rock, scree fields, narrow ridgelines, and vast alpine basins. The terrain is often open, allowing animals to spot movement from great distances, which is one of the reasons long shots are common. Reaching a mature Marco Polo sheep frequently requires careful glassing, long stalks across exposed mountainsides, and climbs over demanding terrain.

Why hunt Marco Polo Sheep?

The Marco Polo sheep, one of the most coveted trophies for big-game hunters, is an animal of extraordinary beauty and incredible horns, stretching over three feet long in mature rams. Native to the high mountain ranges of Central Asia, these elusive sheep are found in rugged and remote locations, where their majestic presence and challenging hunting environment create an unforgettable adventure. At Artemis Hunting, we offer exclusive guided hunts for Marco Polo sheep in some of the most pristine and remote mountain regions of Asia, including Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, where their populations thrive. The vast landscapes, high altitudes, and extreme conditions make hunting Marco Polo sheep a true test of skill, stamina, and determination. Hunting Marco Polo sheep involves long treks through steep, rocky terrain, often above 4,000 meters (13,000 feet), requiring both endurance and strategic planning. The sheep’s keen senses and ability to blend seamlessly into their surroundings make stalking them a real challenge. Hunters typically use a combination of spot-and-stalk and high-altitude tracking methods to get close to their quarry. The Marco Polo sheep hunt not only offers the thrill of the chase but also an opportunity to experience the breathtaking beauty of Central Asia’s wild mountain regions. From vast grasslands to towering peaks, these areas are rich in natural beauty, wildlife, and culture, providing hunters with an immersive adventure. Artemis Hunting ensures that every hunt follows ethical practices, with respect for local conservation efforts and sustainable hunting regulations. Our experienced guides and logistical support ensure a professional and safe experience, from planning the expedition to returning home with your extraordinary trophy. If you’re seeking a once-in-a-lifetime hunting adventure and the chance to pursue a true mountain monarch, a Marco Polo sheep hunt with Artemis Hunting promises an experience of unparalleled excitement, natural beauty, and challenge.
